How to read GooglePlay books (or any other epub) on your Kindle!

September 7, 2026 by Carolynn

Sigh. Kindle makes it tricky to get ebooks from other places … but it’s only tricky once! And then a whole world of books opens up to you, including rare books from Project Gutenberg, secret BookFunnel and StoryOrigin deals, and more!

Specifically for GooglePlay Books, after you buy your book, go to your Google Play Books library and choose Export → Download EPUB. Then follow the instructions below to send the EPUB to your Kindle.

Important: Not every Google Play ebook can be transferred this way. Some publishers use DRM that prevents it. But my ebooks are available as downloadable EPUBs, so you’re good to go!

The easiest way: Send to Kindle

  1. Download the EPUB file to your computer, phone, or tablet.
  2. Go to Amazon’s Send to Kindle page and sign into your Amazon account.
  3. Drag and drop your EPUB onto the page (or select it from your device) and hit Send.
  4. Voilà! It should appear in your Kindle library and sync to your Kindle just like your other books.

Send to Kindle by email

  1. Find your Send to Kindle email address, go to Manage Your Content & Devices > Preferences > Personal Document Settings > scroll down to Send-to-Kindle E-Mail Settings
  2. Before sending, make sure the account you’ll use is on your Approved Personal Document E-mail List in your Personal Document Settings (scroll even further down the Personal Document Settings page, it’s right at the bottom.)
  3. Send your file as an attachment to your Send to Kindle email address. No subject line required.
